We have quite a few new players but they have worked hard. Our region is becoming more difficult, but we feel we are right where we were last season at this time.
We had six possessions in the second half, but we couldn't get any points. Last year, we had so many seniors who had played as juniors. This time we only have six kids who played last year. As coaches we have to keep that in mind and be happy with seeing improvement each game.
I've always been the one to say we'll play anyone, any time, anywhere. I guess I got my wish.
We just couldn't make plays. Too many times we weren't successful on first down and that just makes it really difficult to sustain drives. We wanted to be in a position to win the game in the fourth quarter and we were there.
Johnny works hard and he is as every bit as committed to winning as coach as he was as a player. He came out and coached our defensive backs and that unit had the same competitive fire as he had. They played with his personality.
When I was at Eloy Santa Cruz, we only had 23 kids, so you don't have any choice but to use kids on both sides of the ball. But the more kids you can play, the more you keep them happy, motivated and their parents happy.
