I think there's a sense that as the next hurricane season approaches quickly, there needs to be some good, solid language in place so we can maximize the local contractors.
Sen. Lott feels any time he can show his colleagues up close what Mississippians are facing then certainly that contributes to a better understanding of the Katrina recovery and what it's going to take to continue that recovery over the long term.
What he has consistently told the president, for several years now, is that if we do have some sort of guest worker program, it shouldn't smell, taste or look like an amnesty program.
The senator does not believe Mississippi or the rest of the nation will accept this.
This (Katrina recovery) remains the issue for the people around the Gulf. Sen. Lott expects the administration to continue keeping recovery on the forefront.
