At first it was all a bit of a local curiosity. People would come to see these strange-looking birds that reminded them of ancient Egypt. But it's long since stopped being a joke. There are simply too many of them.
It will be hard to shoot the ibis because people will certainly say we are being cruel and try to stop us. It's bizarre but it makes a difference that they are white. If they were black, no one would care. It's utterly irrational but that's how people are.
They are nomadic, gregarious, aggressive, omnivorous and highly adaptable. We also believe they are a growing danger to indigenous bird life.
