Our old system is less favorably positioned. To follow the same path would not lead to success in our view. We were doubtful the last meeting, now we're convinced. If we go through this whole process it's not going to work. If we want to bid, we want to win. We have to figure it out and make sure we have everybody on board.
We learned a little bit from watching Chirac and Tony Blair walking the halls in Singapore, ... It's a coordinated effort. We want to have support from all levels so nobody is stranded. . . . I think Senator Clinton did a great job, but if you're going to win, I think we need to have every single part of our country lined up.
Michelle Kwan means more to the United States Olympic Committee than maybe any athlete that's every performed. She's a leader, she's been gracious, she's somebody to cherish forever. She's a real loss to the United States Olympic Committee, to the United States of America and, I think, to the world.
