The broken heart. You think you will die, but you just keep living, day after day after terrible day. (“Great Expectations”)
The world breaks everyone, and afterward, many are strong at the broken places. (“A Farewell to Arms”)
Heartbreak is universal. Everyone ultimately is going to experience it. Maybe not even in a relationship. In some way, shape or form you will have your heart broken.
It takes your enemy and your friend, working together, to hurt you to the heart; the one to slander you and the other to get the news to you.
I don’t think there’s any point in being Irish if you don’t know that the world is going to break your heart eventually.
